In all of our karate classes, there are katas and other materials taught to the students. To help the students practice at home, we are providing a written form of this material to complement their training. Be sure to attend class before using these materials. As always, practice in a clear area and practice safely. The katas, self defenses, and Black Belt Responsibility forms are listed below. To view the written description click the link or PDF. What is a kata?

A kata is a series of movements, combinations, and techniques that are practiced in series. The kata is designed to teach a central principle or a set of common techniques in karate. Speed, tempo, focus, and power are a part of the kata and are practiced with precision and may vary at different times, but the kata always has a flow. By practicing katas we learn proper stance, focus, discipline, technique, and how to transition between techniques.
